Frequently asked questions.
Here are some of our most asked questions regarding the shop and getting tattooed in general
How much do tattoos cost?
Tattoo costs vary depending on a number of factors. Size, Placement, Details, Style and Artist are all factors that affect tattoo pricing. A larger tattoo in colour will take longer than a small black and grey tattoo. Generally our artists charge an hourly rate or a daily rate. Daily rates are usually less expensive than hourly.
Do tattoos hurt?
Yes, Tattoos can be painful. Tattoo pain varies from person to person, some people find tattoo pain is a mild discomfort while others describe it as a more intense pain. A smaller tattoo is generally easier to endure than a larger session.
The Chart above is an idea of where the most painful spots on the body are for getting tattooed. The red spots are the most painful and blue is least.
Can i use numbing cream?
We do not recommend the use of numbing assistance before a tattoo. Numbing cream can cause healing problems and even flair ups during the tattoo, they also make the tattooing process more difficult for your artist, its not a risk worth taking.
How do i prepare for my appointment?
On the day of your appointment you should try to arrive (well rested) 10 to 15 minutes before your allocated slot. You can bring snacks or a sugary drink to keep your energy levels high. If you encounter a difficulty during your tattoo our artist will be glad to give you a break if needed. We recommend you do not drink alcohol the night before your appointment, we also recommend you have a shower before the appointment (but do not shave the area of your tattoo as your artist will do this for you).
Can i bring someone along with me?
Please do not bring friends or family to your appointment. We find that bringing someone along often causes more hindrance than help. Under 18s and children are not permitted in the shop by law.
Can i get tattooed if im under 18?
No. The law requires customers to be 18 years old before being tattooed (parental consent does not bypass the law).
What happens if i have to cancel my appointment?
If you have to cancel your appointment please give your artist as much notice as possible. We will alway endevour to reschedule to a more suitable date. Failure to show up will lead to loss of your deposit. Deposits are non refundable.
What if i need to change my design?
Contact your artist directly if you wish to change your design before your appointment, we recommend you give your artist as much notice as possible. Small changes may be made before your appointment starts if your artist can accommodate this.
How to i care for my tattoo after?
We recommend you clean your tattoo at least twice a day with warm soapy water and use suitable aftercare after drying. We recommend the use of butterlux which you can purchase in our shop or online at butterluxeaftercare.com When cleaning your tattoo do not use a rough or abrasive cloth. Its best to use you the palm of your hand in a circular motion.
We would love if you could give us a review after your tattoo on our google reviews.
